During the pre-employment examination, the candidate is screened to determine whether the potential employee is medically fit. This screening is only carried out for positions in which the candidate must fulfil special medical requirements. For instance, a train driver is not allowed to be colour blind. Only those health characteristics which are specifically required for the job are screened.
The medical examination The Pre-Employment Medical Examinations Act prescribes which pre-employment examination conditions apply. Our physicians are well informed about this. A questionnaire about the job risks involved is part of the examination. Each examination is tailored to the job that must be performed. At the end of the examination, it is determined whether the employee is suitable for the job, and the employee receives advice regarding potential occupational hazards and suggestions on how to deal with these risks.
